Aadhaar photo size requirements
This is a file tool, not an Aadhaar centre
Enrolment and update still happen through UIDAI. This page only helps you produce an image file. Do not send Aadhaar numbers, OTP, or demographic details to PixelThinks — the tool does not ask for them.
Aadhaar photo rules depend on the channel you use (enrolment, online update, or a specific form). Read the instructions on the UIDAI service you are using.
PixelThinks cannot guarantee that a government portal will accept the file.
Official page: UIDAI
How to use
- Upload a recent photograph that matches UIDAI’s pose and background notes as far as they apply to your form.
- Enter the size from those instructions.
- Resize or compress and check the face.
- Download the file and submit it only through the official UIDAI process.
Common problems
The update form will not take the photo
Confirm the format and size on the UIDAI screen you are filling. A photo accepted at an enrolment centre can still fail an online size check.
The file is too large
Set Target size to the maximum shown on that form. JPEG is usually smaller than PNG for a colour portrait.
The face is cropped too tightly
Some instructions want head and shoulders, not a passport-style tight crop. Recrop with more margin, then resize.
The image looks stretched
Keep proportions. Crop to the sample shape, then resize.
Wrong format
Export the type named on the UIDAI form. Do not only change the extension.
Below a minimum size
If the form names a minimum KB value, a tiny crop may fail. Use a larger original or higher quality.
Frequently asked questions
Can I resize a photo for Aadhaar here?
You can resize or compress a photograph file. PixelThinks cannot enrol or update Aadhaar and cannot promise UIDAI will accept the file.
Do you upload my Aadhaar photo?
No. Processing runs in your browser when supported. Do not enter your Aadhaar number on this site.
Can I set dimensions and file size?
Yes, using the numbers on the UIDAI instructions you are following.
Does this work on mobile?
Yes. Keep the original in your gallery. Use only official UIDAI apps or sites to submit.
Will compression make the photo fail quality checks?
It might, if quality is too low. Keep the face clear. UIDAI’s own checks are separate from this tool.
Is Aadhaar photo resize free?
Yes. No signup and no daily cap. One image at a time, up to 30MB.
