PAN photo size requirements

Different PAN portals can ask for different files

Do not assume a size that worked on one site will pass on another. This page stores no official PAN pixel chart. It only resizes or compresses the file you upload.

PAN photo rules depend on whether you apply through Protean (NSDL), UTIITSL, or another notified channel. Use the instructions on the form you actually open.

PixelThinks cannot guarantee that a government portal will accept the file.

How to use

  1. Upload a recent photograph suitable for an identity document.
  2. Enter the size from the PAN form instructions you are filling.
  3. Resize or compress and check the face.
  4. Download the file and attach it only on the official application site.

Common problems

The PAN form rejects the photo

Read the error on that portal. Bytes, pixels, and format fail for different reasons. Adjust one thing at a time.

The file is too large

Set Target size to the maximum KB on your form. JPEG is typically smaller than PNG for a colour photo.

The photo looks stretched

Crop to the sample ratio first. Avoid stretch mode.

Wrong format

If the form names JPEG, export JPEG here. A PDF of a photo is not a JPEG.

Quality is poor after compression

Raise quality and crop unused background instead of crushing the whole frame.

Below a minimum size

If a minimum KB is listed, do not over-compress. Keep more detail in the face.

Frequently asked questions

Can I resize a PAN card photo here?

You can resize or compress a photograph. PixelThinks does not issue PAN cards and cannot guarantee the application site will accept the file.

Do you upload my PAN photograph?

No. Processing stays in your browser when supported. Do not enter PAN, Aadhaar, or passwords on this site.

Can I match both KB and pixels?

Yes, if your form lists both. Set dimensions, then a file-size target, and check the download.

Can I do this on a phone?

Yes. Keep the original. Submit the photo only on the official PAN application site.

Does a smaller file always fail?

Not if it still meets a minimum size and the face is clear. A blurry file can fail even when the KB number looks right.

Is PAN photo resize free?

Yes. No signup and no daily cap. One image at a time, up to 30MB.
