Make an Image Background Transparent
Download PNG, or WebP when this browser can save it. The area that was background stays clear, so you can put the picture on a website, a slide, or another photo. Put the file on a colored page to confirm that.
White in the preview is not saved into a PNG. To keep a white background, download JPG after you pick white. A transparent PNG can also be a large file. Compress it if the form or site has a size limit.

Remove Backgrounds from JPG, PNG and WebP Images
Those three formats are the ones you can upload. The download keeps the same width and height as the photo you opened. It does not shrink the picture.
A photo larger than 16 megapixels is turned away. Resize that copy, then come back. If you only need a JPG turned into WebP, and you are not removing a background, use the converter.

Refine Background Removal Around Hair and Edges
Hair, fur, and glass often keep a soft edge, or a little of the old color. That is common when the subject and the background are close in color. It does not mean the upload failed.
Open Compare and drag the line across the photo. If a fringe is left, crop closer and try again, or paint that spot yourself.
When AI Background Removal Needs Manual Editing
Click Manual touch up. Erase paints away background that is still there. Restore paints back a part of the person or product that was cleared by mistake. The brush size can be changed, and you can undo a stroke.
This is for small edges, not for rebuilding a whole photo. When the outline looks right, close the brush and download.
