UPSC photo size requirements
Resize is not the same as compression
UPSC applications may name a pixel size, a file-size range, or both. This page starts as a resizer. If the notice also names a KB limit, set Target size after you have the right dimensions, or continue with the compressor tools linked below.
UPSC photograph instructions are issued with each examination. PixelThinks does not treat any stored size as an official UPSC rule.
PixelThinks cannot guarantee that a government portal will accept the file.

How to use
- Upload a clear, front-facing photograph.
- Type the width and height from the current UPSC photo instructions.
- Choose contain if you must keep the whole face; crop first if the notice wants a tighter headshot.
- Resize, check the output dimensions, then download.
Common problems
The photo is the right shape but the file is huge
Resizing pixels does not always bring a camera JPEG under a KB cap. After you have the right width and height, compress with a target from the notice.
The face looks squashed
Stretch mode ignores the original ratio. Use contain or crop to the ratio UPSC shows in the sample, then resize.
The portal rejects the resized photo
Check the downloaded width, height, format, and bytes separately. A correct pixel size can still fail a KB or JPG rule.
The image is smaller than a minimum pixel size
Enlarging a small selfie does not add real detail. Start from a larger original. If the source is already small, the form may still reject it.
Wrong format after resize
Pick JPEG in Output format if the instructions name JPG. Download and confirm the type rather than guessing from the old filename.
File is too large after a modest resize
A high-quality JPEG at the required pixels can still exceed a KB range. Compress toward the notice’s maximum without changing the dimensions if the notice forbids further shrinking.
Frequently asked questions
Can I resize a photo for the UPSC form here?
Yes. Enter the dimensions from the current UPSC instructions. PixelThinks does not certify that the result meets UPSC rules.
Does PixelThinks upload my UPSC photograph?
No. Resizing runs in your browser when supported. The file stays on your device.
Can I set file size as well as width and height?
After resizing, use the compressor with the KB limit from the same notice. Check both the pixel size and the byte count on the file you download.
Will reducing size lower photo quality?
Making the image smaller in pixels discards detail. Compression can also soften the picture. Compare the preview with the original before you apply.
Can I use this UPSC photo resizer on mobile?
Yes. It works in a phone browser. Save the original and the resized copy separately.
Is UPSC photo resize free?
Yes. No signup and no daily cap. One image at a time, up to 30MB.
