How government signature requirements work

A signature is line art, not a portrait

The same quality setting that looks fine on a face can erase a ballpoint stroke. Crop tightly, prefer a sharp original, and stop compressing as soon as you are under the form’s maximum.

Signature limits are form-specific and often tighter than photograph limits. Copy them from the portal or notification you are using.

PixelThinks cannot guarantee that a government portal will accept the file.

How to use

  1. Crop the signature on a light background, then upload it.
  2. Enter the signature size from the form.
  3. Compress and zoom the preview.
  4. Download the file if the strokes are still readable.

Common problems

The signature becomes blurry

Raise quality and avoid shrinking a small crop further. A dark pen on white paper compresses more cleanly than a photo of a glossy desk.

The signature file is too large

Crop out the rest of the page, then set Target size. JPEG or the format named on the form usually beats a full-page PNG.

Dimensions are right but the file is still heavy

Lower quality slightly. If the form forbids changing pixels, keep the width and height and only compress.

The image looks distorted

Do not stretch a wide signature into a square. Crop to the box ratio shown on the form.

Wrong format

Export JPG or PNG according to the form. Renaming is not conversion.

The portal rejects the signature

Check bytes, pixels, and whether the ink is too light. PixelThinks cannot see the portal’s validation message meaning.

Frequently asked questions

Can I compress a signature for a government form?

Yes, to a KB or pixel limit you copy from that form. Acceptance is not guaranteed.

Do you upload my signature?

No. Processing runs in your browser when supported. The signature is not uploaded to our server.

Can I keep both a minimum and maximum file size?

Target the maximum. Then check whether the download is still above any minimum. This tool will not pad the file.

Can I use this on a phone?

Yes. Confirm the signature is readable after download.

Why is my signature rejected if the size looks right?

Portals may also check format, dimensions, or how faint the ink is. Compare every line of the form’s help text.

Is the signature compressor free?

Yes. No signup and no daily cap. One image at a time, up to 30MB.
