SSC signature size requirements
Signatures need readable ink, not just a small file
A signature that meets a KB cap can still fail if the line work turns into grey smudge. Crop tightly, use JPEG or the format named in the notice, and inspect the download at 100% zoom.
Signature size and format rules are listed in each SSC notice. They are not the same as photograph rules. Confirm both before you upload.
PixelThinks cannot guarantee that a government portal will accept the file.

How to use
- Upload a crop that contains only the signature, on a plain background if possible.
- Enter the signature file-size limit from the current SSC notice.
- Compress and zoom the preview so thin strokes are still visible.
- Download the file and keep the original scan.
Common problems
The signature becomes blurry
Very low JPEG quality or shrinking a small crop too far will dissolve the strokes. Start with a tighter crop of a sharp scan, then compress moderately. If the ink breaks up, raise quality and try again.
The signature file is too large
Photographing a full A4 page keeps a lot of empty paper. Crop to the signature, then set Target size. A dark JPEG of a small crop is usually smaller than a PNG of the whole page.
Dimensions match but the portal still refuses the file
Some forms check bytes, extension, and sometimes colour. Convert to the named format in the tool rather than renaming the file.
The image looks stretched
Forcing a short, wide signature into a square box stretches the handwriting. Crop to the ratio the form shows, or set only one dimension.
Wrong format
If the notice asks for JPG, export JPEG here. A screenshot saved as PNG will not become JPEG by changing the filename.
The file is below a minimum size
A tiny crop can land under a minimum KB rule. Use a slightly larger crop or higher quality. Do not add fake grain to inflate the file.
Frequently asked questions
Can I compress an SSC signature without ruining it?
Often, if the scan is sharp and you avoid extreme quality settings. Always inspect the strokes. PixelThinks cannot guarantee the SSC portal will accept the file.
Does this tool upload my signature?
No. Processing runs in your browser when supported. The signature is not uploaded to PixelThinks for compression.
Should I photograph or scan the signature?
A flat, well-lit scan or a steady close-up on white paper usually compresses more cleanly than a tilted phone photo of a desk.
Can I use this SSC signature tool on mobile?
Yes. After you download the file, open it on the phone and confirm it still looks like your signature before you attach it to the form.
Is the SSC signature compressor free?
Yes. No account is required. Process one signature at a time, up to 30MB.
