WebP offers a different way to encode an image for web delivery. A JPEG-to-WebP conversion can be useful when your site or application supports WebP, but a smaller result is not guaranteed. Compare the output bytes and visible detail rather than assuming a format change always improves efficiency.
Prepare the right source file
Start from the best JPEG source available. If it has already been repeatedly compressed, converting it will not recover the missing information. Check whether the destination accepts WebP during upload as well as display; a publishing system may reject it or re-encode it even when browsers can display it.
What changes in the exported image
Quality settings in different encoders are not interchangeable measurements. A WebP at 80% and a JPEG at 80% are not guaranteed to look identical or have similar sizes. Compare the exported image at its intended display width and inspect faces, lettering, gradients, and patterns that matter for your use.
A practical conversion workflow
Convert a representative photo first and compare it with the JPEG. If the result is useful, process additional photos and review exceptions. For a strict byte budget, move to the mixed-format image compressor and choose WebP there. Keep a JPEG alternative if the receiving workflow requires it.

Troubleshooting the result
A JPEG source cannot gain genuine transparency simply by being saved as WebP. Although WebP supports an alpha channel, this converter does not remove backgrounds. If the aim is a transparent product cutout, you need an input with transparency or a separate background-editing workflow.
Each selected file must be no larger than 30MB, with working dimensions within the image tool’s pixel limits. Batch conversion handles up to 20 files sequentially. If one source fails, inspect its error separately; successful results from other files remain available for download.

Yes. After converting more than one supported source, use Download all as ZIP. The archive contains individual output images. It does not combine pictures into one image or add pages to a document.
Does the original file change when I convert it?
No. A separate result is created. Your source stays unchanged. Download the new copy when you are satisfied, and keep the original if you need its metadata or format-specific features.
